Long Weekend of Musings

I had Monday off this week due to a national holiday, so it was nice to have a long three day weekend. Spent some of it doing very little productive in the way of productivity, that is gaming. XD I finally finished most of the original Viva Pinata game, so after an adventure trying to find the game store location which had the new one in stock, I snagged a copy of Viva Pinata ‘Trouble in Paradise’ to feed my need for more wacky virtual paper pets.

I also did a little bit of felt crafting and created this little owl for Amaya to enjoy. I know she came with a little Angry plush, but it just doesn’t seem to suit her all that much.

Monday three of the guys came over to play board games, mostly mahjong but alas we never seemed to get around to it and instead played Arkham Horror the entire time. It was new to everyone so there was a lot of rule explaining, but I think everyone had a good time. You play against the board, so it’s great when you get a good mix of people who enjoy chatting and playing casually along with throwing a little game strategy in too.

Both my cellphone camera and my quick snap digital camera have flaked out. Sunday my quick snap worked fine, Monday I turned it on and the screen was black. The lens is open and it will let me look at old pictures on the memory disk, but any new pictures taken are just black. So now I will have to take it to a shop sometime and hope it’s easy to fix. :( My cellphone despite being new won’t remember that it has an SD card and forgets every single time I want to use it. It’s just so frustrating! Needless to say I will be taking it in this weekend to have someone look at it or replace it, again. So now I’m down to my big camera, needless to say there will be less candid shots for a while now till things get fixed.

Yesterday and today have been very long work days. Yesterday I spent the entire day with a stomach ache and feeling like I might be ill at any time. I managed to hang on till the end of the day but still left work an hour early. Due to hurricane Hermine it was absolutely pouring rain all day, so I was very glad to leave before rush hour began as I can only imagine how delightful that was. *sarcastic*

Tonight Shawn and I took Mr Mystic kitty over to his new home, he will be staying with family who also took Miya a year or so ago now. We were supposed to take him yesterday but all of the rain and traffic made thing imposable. It was a pretty uncomfortable trip over as the cat soiled his box twice after just barely being on the road. This wouldn’t have been so bad if we could have pulled over but oh no, we were stuck in the middle of traffic on an exchange with no gas stations to pull off to. Major rolling down the windows here! To make it worse we were eating frozen yogurt, oh yeah, that works well with strong odors. *gag* I was never so happy to see a gas station and a package of baby wipes to clean up things in all my life!! The towel I had in the cat box, yep, tossed in the nearest trash can.

Some good news did happen today, Volks has announced some new standard issues for MSD! I am quiet taken by Mire and am really hoping she will come over to VolksUSA after the event in Japan is finished. The only reason I haven’t ordered a MSD already is because they don’t come with an option to receive a face up and I’m not comfortable painting the face onto my first doll. I want her to be perfect and magical right out of the box.

The only disappointing announcement from Volks is that they are discontinuing SD Nono, anyone wanting her must order before December 31st. The upside to SD is that they are reworking the faceup for SD Standards, which I think looks a lot nicer. I know I’m taken with Nono, but MSD Myu is a real cutie too! I’m thinking that if Mire doesn’t come to VolksUSA in a few months then I may just go ahead and get Nono before she is gone. I will definitely be giving some thought to this.

Now for that to happen I hope none of the lolita brands come out with a drop dead gorgeous gothic print or I am completely doomed. So far I have been able to resist Btssb latest offerings; although the Clara Short Boots are awfully tempting I just wish the heel wasn’t quiet so high.

I am really tempted to reserve them though because I looked all last Autumn and Winter for some boots exactly like these and couldn’t locate them anywhere. I just don’t wear heels much anymore and want to be comfortable to walk in them all day. If anyone knows of some similar to these in the States please let me know!

  1. I’m sorry about your camera and phone, I hope they will get fixed very soon!

I’m actually really loving the Clara short boots! I’m so tempted now…
They’ve been selling all kinds of lace-up boots in Nordstrom and such lately. They may have ones without a heel, but most I’ve seen have much higher heels >.<

    • They are terribly tempting aren’t they! Thanks for the tip, I think I may run the mall this weekend and see what I can find. :D I’m so tired of the super tall heel trend, ugh, it needs to go. >_<
